Overview

Nestled in the heart of Paris’s 13th arrondissement, La Bonne Mer stands out as a refined seafood destination that clearly honors the ocean’s bounty. Located at 22 Rue du Moulin des Prés, this intimate restaurant offers a carefully curated menu that celebrates both grilled and raw seafood, bringing fresh flavors to the fore with each dish.

The culinary approach here is a blend of tradition and creativity. Signature dishes like Spigola Al Coriandolo and Poulpe Grillé Et Pommes de Terre À la Galicienne reflect expert handling of classic Mediterranean ingredients, while options such as Soute Cozze Vongole E Capesante and Ceviche de Bar showcase a vibrant freshness that seafood lovers crave. The chef’s skill with seasoning—subtle yet precise—makes every bite a delicate balance of flavors and textures.

The space itself is compact, fostering a cozy and personalized dining experience. This intimacy allows the chef to craft each plate with great care and to interact thoughtfully with guests—a feature appreciated by visitors who value both quality and connection. As one patron noted, the chef's willingness to substitute dishes creatively, like offering thinly sliced bronzini and ceviche when a favorite item sells out, reflects a commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction.

La Bonne Mer attracts food enthusiasts who seek authenticity paired with a refined touch. The menu’s reliance on fresh, often locally sourced seafood aligns well with discerning diners looking for genuine taste without unnecessary embellishments. From the crispy outside and tender inside of the grilled octopus to the meltingly fresh sea bass carpaccio, every dish is a testament to the restaurant’s respect for its ingredients.

The staff enhances the experience with warm hospitality and clear communication, including helpful explanations of the French-language menu in English. Though prices trend towards the higher side, the exceptional quality and care justify the visit for those prioritizing flavor and authenticity over budget.

In summary, La Bonne Mer is an essential stop for anyone passionate about seafood in Paris. It offers a striking blend of thoughtful preparation, fresh sourcing, and an inviting atmosphere that transforms a meal into a memorable encounter with the sea’s finest offerings.

The chef is outstanding. He clearly knows good sources of freshest and quality supplies and brings the best taste out! I ordered three dishes and everyone was cooked to perfection. The Lotte a la plancha was so delicious that I ordered again. But the fish was out, so the chef and hostess offered thinly sliced bronzini and ceviche for free instead. Both tasted superb and different. If you are a foodie and fond of seafood, you have to give it a try and won’t be disappointed. The restaurant is tiny, and the chef prepared every dish with care.

Went with a friend who had been before on our last night in Paris, and what a treat! We shared five dishes plus the pumpkin soup with hazelnuts, each one light, fresh, and perfectly prepared. The octopus was crispy on the outside yet tender inside. The sea bass carpaccio was exceptionally fresh and melted in the mouth. The squid at the end was pure “fresh ocean” flavor with just the right bite. A wonderful dining experience—highly recommended!

Very interesting concept of grilled seafood and raw seafood. Chef has a good taste to use various herbs and spices to flavour the food. Also the chef speaks English, and was kind enough to explain every item on the menu (which is only available in French). A little pricy though.

Opened in my neighborhood and always wanted to try it, I stopped by one night for dinner for one, and they were nice enough to provide me a table, even though I had no reservation. The food was really great. The service was nice. Oysters were really fresh. and the ceviche was so tasty.

On the last night of my solo trip to Paris, I stumbled upon this restaurant near Place d'Italie. I didn't have a reservation but the chef kindly accommodated at the bar. He recommended the mixed seafood dish, which turned out to be the best meal I've had in a while. I also sampled the mussels in coconut milk, so divine. Next time I'm back in Paris, I'll be sure to make a reservation.

Great quality food, friendly service. Only downside: you are seated very close to other guests, not much privacy
